Arjen Robben: Bayern Were Robbed!

Dutchman Arjen Robben, Bayern Munich's midfielder has voiced out following their 4-2 away loss at the Bernabeu which led to their crashing out of the UEFA Champions League.

Arjen Robben felt Bayern Munich were robbed after they were controversially knocked out of the Champions League by Real Madrid.
Arturo Vidal was sent off in Bayern's 4-2 extra-time loss to titleholders Madrid, who completed a 6-3 aggregate win thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo's hat-trick which marked the Portugese's century of goals in the Europe's elite competition.
Bayern were leading 2-1 on the night in the return leg with extra time approaching at the Santiago Bernabeu when Chilean midfielder Vidal received a second yellow in the 84th minute for what appeared to be a fair challenge as the Chilean clearly won the ball.
It was not over yet as Real Madrid yet again benefited from offside calls as Ronaldo completed added two more goals to his game, the first clearly offside.
Arjen Robben when speaking to Viasat, when asked if Bayern were robbed, said: "Yeah, you know in my opinion it's a shame because you see such a great game.
"Everyone in the world saw two great teams against each other with great players on the pitch.
"It was a joy to watch. Then a game like that is being decided by the crucial decisions of a referee. I don't like talking about referees but you always have to look at yourself and the mistakes you make or what you have done wrong. In this case, it wasn't one, it's more and crucial decisions decide games.
"It was a great advertisement for football and then it's being decided by someone with a whistle."
Bayern's boss, Carlo Ancelotti didn't also hide his displeasure as he blasted the referee's performance tagging it worse than theirs.
"The referee's performance was worse than ours," Ancelotti told Sky.
"I know it's football and it happens sometimes, but not this serious of a mistake."
While speaking via Mediaset Premium: "We had thought of everything going into this game – except the referee. It's a pity, because it was the perfect game otherwise.
"I am very proud of my players, as they did all they could and more, but then it went the way it went... the referee probably wasn't up to the task.
The Bayern boss while exempting Real Madrid from any form of lobby further stated his support for the VAR (Video Assistant Refereeing) Technology.
"I don't think Real Madrid have any influence on referees. The officials tonight simply got it wrong. I had never been in favour of VAR technology, but I must admit it's necessary now.
"You can't decide a Champions League semi-final spot like this. I spoke to [Madrid coach Zinedine] Zidane after the game and he agreed with me that the refereeing performance was negative.
"It shouldn't be happening at this level and I hope the referees will be helped by technology as soon as possible."
