Leicester City have set a new Premier League record on Sunday after their 2-0 loss to fellow strugglers, Swansea City.
The record however, is an unwanted record.
Claudio Ranieri's struggling side became the first defending top-flight champions to go six successive matches without registering a goal.
LEICESTER CITY'S LAST SIX PREMIER LEAGUE MATCHES:
Middlesbrough 0-0 Leicester City
Leicester City 0-3 Chelsea
Southampton 3-0 Leicester City
Burnley 1-0 Leicester City
Leicester City 0-3 Manchester United
Swansea City 2-0 Leicester City
Claudio Ranieri's men famously stormed to the Premier League title last season and were out-scored by only Tottenham (69) and Manchester City (71), netting 68 times over the course of the campaign.
Leicester City however suffered a 2-0 defeat at fellow strugglers Swansea City to slip a little deeper into the mire and put their remarkable feat last season to a distant memory with five losses in a row and firing blank for the sixth time in a row - a Premier League record for defending champions.
The Foxes have failed to register a Premier League goal in 2017, with their last effort coming in a 1-0 victory over West Ham on New Year’s Eve – 610 minutes ago.
Further danger looms for the Foxes as Claudio Ranieri’s side are in danger of becoming the first defending champions since Manchester City in 1937-38 to suffer relegation in the following season.
The result leaves them with just 21 points, one more than 18th-placed Hull City in the final of the three relegation spots, and just two points from bottom-placed Sunderland. Leicester City now look destined for a desperate battle to avoid the drop before the end of the season.
