Juan Mata Reveals The Reason Behind His Bizarre Goal Celebration Against Watford

Manchester United's Juan Mata has explained the reason behind his unusual bizarre goal celebration in their 2-0 victory over Watford FC.

Juan Mata gave Manchester United exactly what they deserved during the first-half of their comfortable 2-0 victory over Watford in the Premier Leauge on Saturday after Zlatan Ibrahimovic had wasted two half-chances earlier on.

The Spaniard's brilliant flick during a one-two with Henrikh Mkhitaryan set the Spaniard up for the perfect chance to break into the Hornets box and grab Jose Mourinho's side a much-deserved opener.

Juan Mata's celebration was however rather bizarre and the fans couldn't understand why considering the match should be a routine victory for the Red Devils. The Spaniard took off his right boot and threw it into the air before hugging Martial in delight at breaking the deadlock; luckily avoiding a caution from the referee.

Was Mata joking or what exactly happened? The Spain international has explained it why speaking to MUTV in the post-match press:

Mata explained his boot was almost off in the build-up to the goal and would be glad it remained in place until he finished the job past Watford's Gomes.

He said:

"Well my boot was a little bit half off and half on when I scored," he told MUTV.

"So, when I started to celebrate it just went out and it was good advertising for Adidas!"

And there was more good news as man and boot were reunited, with Mata writing on Twitter: "Yes, I found the boot after the celebration!" A further cause for celebration.

Will Adidas pay him a bonus for this gesture?
